BIZ

BIZ is a multi-generational company. It imports and sells interior design products such as tiles, fittings etc. The main area of business is bathrooms.

My job was to bring the company website into the 21st century. The previous one was a static HTML site and looked past its prime. So we needed a total refresh.

I started the work with long conversations with the client – we discussed their business, customers, plans and ideas. I also helped with the creation of social media profiles and advised on how to run them. Then I took on the creation of the logo and the brand identity.

I created the logo myself in the free software InkScape, in SVG format of course. It had to be associated with luxury, hence the gold colour. It was also meant to reflect the company’s years of tradition. Similarly, the entire colour palette for the website was created.

Once we had this established, I set about creating the site. The assumptions were:

  • The site is to be a virtual catalogue of the company’s products and its business card internationally.
  • The graphic design is to be toned down, elegant, not necessarily associated with luxury, but presenting interior design as art.
  • It is to be prepared for:
    • future advertising activities,
    • future addition of an English language version,
    • creation of blog posts from industry events.
  • The client wanted to add products to the catalogue independently. This meant creating a simple, intuitive system for non-technical people with no previous experience of managing WordPress.
  • I added from myself the requirement for security, readability and fast loading.

I developed the layout and design of the site itself expressly using the Kadence theme and the Gutenberg editor. As you can easily guess, the biggest difficulty for me was to create a system for adding products. This is where ACF came to the rescue. I created groups of fields that lead by the hand one by one. The person adding a product doesn’t have to think about how to arrange the blocks or what style of entry to choose – he or she simply enters the required product data, adds a featured image for the product entry, publishes and bang! The product appears in the catalogue. I designed the solution myself, only knowing the possibilities offered by ACF. And I am very proud of it, and the customer is happy.

Unfortunately, for reasons beyond my control, the website is still under construction, so it is password-protected and has not yet shown itself to the world. This will happen as soon as the client has added all the products to the catalogue. As far as I know, work is ongoing 😉

I encourage you to take a look at the site using the button below. The password is my phone number without the area code prefix – in short 9 digits in 5XXXXXXXX format.
